Who Am I?

Good question. I'm Evan Sicuranza, owner and operator of Crooked Horse Studio.

I’m a musician and songwriter, and cut my teeth recording and mixing tracks for the bands I played in, as well as those of fellow music-making friends and colleagues.

This background led to me see mixing as an artistic partnership, and to value the primacy of those who write songs and play them. I approach each new project with the attention, respect and open ear of a player in a band. I view the mixing process as an extension of that collaboration between creative minds which brings new music into being.

As a mixer, I'm excited to be involved with projects in any genre that excites the artist's sensibilities. My own musical tastes run the gamut from classical to country, rock to rap, old school to new. I'm always looking to expand the variety of my musical experience, both as part of my professional education and because listening to music is one of the best things any of us can do. The only thing better is making it.

Touchpoints? The 3 Bs (Beatles/Bowie/Beach Boys), Velvet Underground, 70s punk/new wave, 80s metal, 90s hiphop, Motown, Nashville, Berlin, outlaw country, psychedelic soul, electro-pop, ramshackle indie bands, the 3 Davids (Byrne/Berman/Lynch), Scott Walker, Norman Whitfield, Steve Albini, Adrian Younge...as close to an A to Z as I can do for now! Hit me up if you want to know more.
